It’s no secret that the Internet has turned the music industry on its ear. The big issue is free downloads and how recording artists will get paid for their music.
Well, leave it to Prince to solve the problem. The artist formerly known as just a symbol believes he knows how to continue to make dollar signs. Prince says the Internet is over, at least in his world. His forthcoming album, ‘20Ten,’ will only be released as a CD. Prince will not give access to the digital download services. He has closed his official website and he has told BBC 6 Music that the Internet is dead.
Will any other artist’s follow Prince’s lead? It’ll be interesting to see how ‘20Ten’ sells since record sales have been down, primarily due to the Internet.
