There are a number of exceptional unsung rock bands of the ‘90s such as the Posies, Possum Dixon and the Jayhawks. The latter is reforming for a brief tour in support of the re-release of the group’s first two albums, 1992’s ‘Hollywood Town Hall’ and 1995’s ‘Tomorrow the Green Grass.’
The Jayhawks, including founding members Mark Olson and Gary Louris and bassist Marc Perlman, keyboardist Karen Grotberg and drummer Tim O’Reagan, will embark on a seven-date, five-city tour, which stops January 22 at the Theater of Living Arts.
New York and Chicago will enjoy the benefit of the Jayhawks for two nights. The group will play ‘HTH’ in order the first night and the next evening treat fans to TTGG.’
It’ll be a different set up in Philly but it should still be satisfying. The Jayhawks appear only on occasion. Olson and Louris are well into solo careers. Don’t expect the band to get back for many other tours.
