Those who believe that there’s a dearth of blue-eyed soul singers should check out Marc Broussard. The son of the great Boogie Kings guitarist Ted Broussard possesses a gruff, sensual voice.
Broussard, who will perform Monday at the Sellersville Theater, has been singing under the radar despite earning key opening slots for The Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5 and Gavin DeGraw.
If there were any justice in the music industry, Broussard’s latest album, ‘Keep Coming Back,’ would have received more notice. The disc, which is the follow-up to his so-so covers album, ‘Save Our Soul,’ is filled with dramatic and complex originals.
Broussard uses his powerful voice as a weapon. He proves he can sing over anything and that’s evident during the incendiary ‘Hard Knocks,’ which includes a guitar riff that’s right out of the Jimi Hendrix playbook.
Broussard has few peers. He’s definitely worth checking out.
