A few years ago, Tommy Stinson told me that there was a 20 percent chance the Replacements would reunite. He said that if they did get back together it would be for money. Well, he was right. He and Mats leader Paul Westerberg recorded a four-song EP of covers to help out Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap, who suffered a stroke earlier this year. All proceeds from the project, which include versions of Dunlap’s ‘Busted Up,’ Hank Williams’ ‘Lost Highway,’ ‘Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘I’m Not Sayin’ and ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’ from the Broadway play, ‘Gypsy,’ will go to Dunlap. There will be only 250 versions of the EP, released on 10 inch vinyl. The discs will be sold via online auction.
